Despite the fact that I write at an established news and opinion site, I’ve always had a really hard time referring to myself as a journalist. I think of myself more as a commentator, not just because it’s probably more accurate but because of how the word “journalist” has become synonymous with “propagandist,” at least in my eyes.

It’s also become a word too closely associated with elitism. I’m not sure how many people would consider RedState the “elite” and any declaration that it is so would elicit arguments from me. As for myself and my colleagues, I’ve always viewed us as that ragtag bunch of regular folks that found out how to make our opinions worth reading. Our families don’t come from old money with connections to people in high places of influence. You won’t find many ivy league grads among our writing staff.

At the risk of sounding cliche, you and I aren’t that much different. I read your comments both here and on our YouTube channel with the same amount of interest I’d have if I were hearing them at a bar we both happened to get into a conversation at.

My point is, their efforts to censor me are the same as their efforts to censor you. While I admittedly have a little bit of a larger platform than most, I would hardly compare myself to someone like Ben Shapiro or Steven Crowder. You could begin gathering your own following and have more of a platform than I do in half a year.

This makes you, an average person, a dangerous entity in the eyes of the radical left. I’ve written this not long ago, and I want to reiterate it here because you should really understand how they see you:

You, the person they scoff at while they fly over you, are a terrible force of nature that could, at any moment, speak even a little and begin the domino effect that will bring their empire of sand down on top of them. They don’t want you to know this, but you’re that powerful.

This is why they work to shut you up at every turn and use any opportunity to censor, ban, or minimize you. They know you know the truth and they shudder at the idea that you’ll gain the ability to speak it.

Now, we’ve seen this week that their plans to create a “ministry of truth” within the government was just an outward manifestation of something they were already doing. To be clear, we kind of already knew it was happening, but now we have proof in our hands.

This until now secret program resulted in the federal bureaucracy meddling in the 2020 elections.

The Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Misinformation and Disinformation Subcommittee meetings began during the 2020 election. That means it was organized and operated under President Donald Trump’s appointees in an organization he created in 2018.

In coordination with this committee, Facebook developed a web portal where “partners” can identify material that the “partner” doesn’t want distributed, and Facebook will see to taking it down or making it nearly impossible to share.
